Assessed charges explained

If you apply for a meter but we are unable to fit one, you will be offered an assessed charge.

What are assessed charges?

An assessed charge is an estimate of the bill you would pay if a meter was fitted.

We set assessed charges by estimating the amount of water you are likely to use.

How do we estimate your water usage?

To estimate your water usage, we consider:

  • the number of people living in your property
  • the type of property you live in
  • the average metered bill for similar properties.
